New User Guide

Are you new to Cardmarket? Then you're in the right place. Cardmarket is a peer-to-peer marketplace that allows you to buy and sell cards. Unlike other marketplaces, you do not buy cards from us. Instead, you buy from your fellow users. Below, we walk through the most important things to know when buying or selling your first cards on Cardmarket.

How to Purchase Your First Card(s)

Finding the Right Card

Finding cards is not all that different on Cardmarket than other websites you are used to using. The first step is to make sure you are on the right game. Check the top left for the game page your are currently on and change it to the game you want. Once you're on the right page, the easiest way to find the card you're looking for is the search bar. Please note that many cards have different versions and you'll want to make sure the version you have picked is the correct one.

Choosing The Right Offer

Once you have found the card your looking for, you have to pick a seller to buy the card from. Cardmarket automatically orders offer from cheapest to most expensive (including shipping). On the left-hand side of the page, you'll notice numerous filters for language, seller type, and a bunch more.

Sellers fit into three categories on Cardmarket: Private, Professional, and Power.

Private sellers are casual sellers who usually have smaller collections and fewer sales. They are just looking to get rid of their excess cards and will often have lower prices than professional or Powersellers.

Professional sellers are businesses that operate on Cardmarket. Buying from them is not dissimilar to buying from other websites and they often have very robust collections to choose from.

Powersellers are a special group of professional sellers chosen by Cardmarket who have impeccable reputations and have sold a lot of cards on Cardmarket.

Once you've found the right offer, add it to your cart.

Purchasing Your Card(s)

Once you've added the cards you are looking for to your cart, you can go ahead and buy them. Cardmarket works differently than most websites in this respect. You will notice that we do not ask you for any payment information on your cart. Instead you "commit to buy" an order.

Once you click that button, you have committed to paying for the cards in question. After this, you can pay your unpaid orders either by making a bank transfer to your Cardmarket account or by using an instant payment method like PayPal or Credit Cards. You are required to pay for your unpaid orders within seven days of checking out your shopping cart. If you do not, the seller can cancel the order without your consent. We also suspend your ability to buy cards if you fail to pay for an order three or more times.

Received Your Card(s)?

After you receive your shipment, check to make sure you have the goods you paid for. If everything is as you expect, go ahead and confirm the shipment.

For most orders - which are protected by our Trustee Service - we only release the money to the seller once you've confirmed arrival.

Remember: Once delivery has been confirmed, the Trustee Service will no longer apply. If there are any issues with your tracked order, please ensure that its status is marked as 'Not received - Issue' before confirming receipt. Evaluate Your Seller

One more step! Now that you've received your card(s), you need to evaluate the seller. Seller evaluations are integral to any peer-to-peer system. They are the primary method buyers use to evaluate sellers. As such, buyers will almost always evaluate shipments as "Very Good." The only reason to do otherwise is if there was an unresolved dispute with the seller or a significant error (like the wrong language, condition, or a different card).

Even when sellers make a mistake, buyers will often leave a favorable evaluation after contacting the seller and resolving the issue through a refund or another shipment. Sellers don't have a way to convince buyers outside of evaluations, so please make sure to leave one for every shipment!

The Trustee Service

New buyers and new sellers will both likely notice a "Trustee Service" fee on some of their early orders. When this appears, it means that we are guaranteeing this shipment trough our Trustee Service. In exchange for a small additional fee, we will hold onto the payment for an order until the buyer confirms arrival. We will also cover the costs of any damages that occurred during shipment, provided the post office cannot cover the damages. This ensures that both parties are happy with the result before the transaction is completed. The Trustee Service is used on orders costing more than 25 euros and for the first five sales made by any new seller.

Becoming a Seller

Under the selling tab, you will see the "Become a Seller" option. Click this and follow the instructions to activate your seller account. After that, you can either add offers through the selling tab at the top of the screen or through the individual product pages. Private sellers are limited to two offers for a specific sealed product, and they are not eligible to pre-sell any items that cannot be acquired at a pre-release.

And that about covers it. It's important to keep an eye on our News section as well as your notifications which are there to help you stay on top of your orders and the news that affects orders on Cardmarket.
