New User Guide
Are you new to Cardmarket? Then you're in the right place. Cardmarket is a peer-to-peer marketplace that allows you to buy and sell cards. Unlike other marketplaces, you do not buy cards from us. Instead, you buy from your fellow users. Below, we walk through the most important things to know when buying or selling your first cards on Cardmarket.
How to Purchase Your First Card(s)
Finding the Right Card
Finding cards is not all that different on Cardmarket than other websites you are used to using. The first step is to make sure you are on the right game. Check the top left for the game page your are currently on and change it to the game you want. Once you're on the right page, the easiest way to find the card you're looking for is the search bar. Please note that many cards have different versions and you'll want to make sure the version you have picked is the correct one.
Choosing The Right Offer
Once you have found the card your looking for, you have to pick a seller to buy the card from. Cardmarket automatically orders offer from cheapest to most expensive (including shipping). On the left-hand side of the page, you'll notice numerous filters for language, seller type, and a bunch more.
Sellers fit into three categories on Cardmarket: Private, Professional, and Power.
Private sellers are casual sellers who usually have smaller collections and fewer sales. They are just looking to get rid of their excess cards and will often have lower prices than professional or Powersellers.
Professional sellers are businesses that operate on Cardmarket. Buying from them is not dissimilar to buying from other websites and they often have very robust collections to choose from.
Powersellers are a special group of professional sellers chosen by Cardmarket who have impeccable reputations and have sold a lot of cards on Cardmarket.
Once you've found the right offer, add it to your cart.
Purchasing Your Card(s)
Once you've added the cards your looking for to your cart, you can go ahead and buy them. Cardmarket works differently than most websites in this respect. You will notice that we do not ask you for any payment information on your cart. Instead you "commit to buy" an order.
Once you click that button, you have committed to paying for the cards in question. After this, you can pay your unpaid orders either by making a bank transfer to your Cardmarket account or by using an instant payment method like PayPal or Credit Cards. You are required to pay for your unpaid orders within seven days of checking out your shopping cart. If you do not, the seller can cancel the order without your consent. We also suspend your ability to buy cards if you fail to pay for an order three or more times.
The Trustee Service
New buyers and new sellers will both likely notice a "Trustee Service" fee on some of their early orders. When this appears, it means that we are guaranteeing this shipment trough our Trustee Service. In exchange for a small additional fee, we will hold onto the payment for an order until the buyer confirms arrival. We will also cover the costs of any damages that occurred during shipment, provided the post office cannot cover the damages. This ensures that both parties are happy with the result before the transaction is completed. The Trustee Service is used on orders costing more than 25 euros and for the first five sales made by any new seller.
Becoming a Seller
Under the selling tab, you will see the "Become a Seller" option. Click this and follow the instructions to activate your seller account. After that, you can either add offers through the selling tab at the top of the screen or through the individual product pages. Private sellers are limited to two offers for a specific sealed product, and they are not eligible to pre-sell any items that cannot be acquired at a pre-release.
